Plantation Bay’s Club De Bonmont course within weeks of re-opening

Plantation Bay Golf and Country Club is proud to announce we are not far away from re-opening the original golf course known as Club De Bonmont. The course has been undergoing a renovation this summer.

Along with the help from architect Steve Smyers, the golf course has undergone a major renovation.  All of the fairways have been torn up and re-grassed with Celebration, a form of Bermuda grass that is tolerant to wear and will result in a premier playing surface.

The renovation of the greens

The greens have also been renovated and players will be putting on TifEagle Bermuda grass.

TifEagle is a new form of Bermuda grass that many courses in the southeast U.S. have gone to because of its consistency with speed, color and resistance to thatch buildup.  This putting surface can also be found at TPC Sawgrass where today’s top professionals play every May at The Player’s Championship.

Many of the bunkers on the golf course have also been renovated to allow a more member-friendly playing environment.  Some bunkers have been removed and some made less penal so the average golfer can enjoy their playability.

The golf course is set to open in October and will no doubt keep Plantation Bay as one of the area’s best private golf courses and country club communities.
