Receives USTA Florida Merit Award
Orlando, Florida (November 21, 2015) – The 66th Annual Meeting of the USTA Florida Section was held at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in Orlando November 21-22, 2015. Present among the 300 tennis celebrities, USTA volunteers and staff was Master Tennis Professional from Plantation Bay in Ormond Beach, Dave Brown. He was presented with the prestigious “Merit Award” for his many years of service promoting and growing the sport of tennis in the state of Florida.
His previous recognitions include USTA Florida Family of the year in 2011, the USTA/ USPTA Florida Service Award in 2002, five times USPTA Daytona District Pro of the year, and he was named USPTA Master Professional in 1992. From tournament director to heading CTAs to serving USTA and USPTA organizations, if one can think of a position within the Florida tennis community, paid or volunteer, Dave has likely done it.
Family and tennis are inseparable for Dave, who played throughout juniors and college, and continues to compete in adult tournaments and national father-son events with his son, Aaron. His wife, Ann, his son and his daughter-in-law Michelle all work in the tennis industry. The USTA life member says, “Bringing new and returning players to try, learn, and play tennis continues to be my mission here is Central Florida through the new junior pathway, local adult leagues, and the new Master’s tennis program.
